„Dem bodenständigen Liedgut verbunden und offen für Neues“ sind Leitlinien der Singgemeinschaft Oisternig, die aus dem südlichsten Teil Kärntens, aus Feistritz im Gailtal stammt. Sie ist nach dem Oisternig, dem 2052 m hohen Hausberg in den Karnischen Alpen benannt und liegt im Schnittpunkt der drei Länder Österreich, Italien und Slowenien. Der Chor wurde 1949 gegründet und die musikalische Leitung liegt in den Händen von Chorleiter Christof Mörtl, der die Singgemeinschaft 2009 von seinem Vater Prof. Franz Mörtl übernommen hat.
Einen großen Stellenwert in der Chorarbeit nimmt die Pflege und die Erhaltung der alten Volks- und Brauchtumslieder ein, die sowohl in deutscher als auch slowenischer Sprache überliefert sind. Dieses Kulturgut wurde in verschiedenen Symposien vielfältig betrachtet und dokumentiert. Neben weltlicher und geistlicher Literatur finden sich Spirituals, Gospels und Popmusik im Repertoire des Chores. Die Aufführungen der geistlichen Chor- und Orchesterwerke „Messe in D-Dur“ von Antonin Dvořák und „Missa Cellensis“ (Mariazeller Messe) von Joseph Haydn - unter anderem in der Basilika Santa Maria Maggiore in Rom - waren einzigartige Erlebnisse. Zu besonderen Höhepunkten zählen Konzerte auf der Burgarena Finkenstein, im Congress Center Villach, Stadttheater und Konzerthaus Klagenfurt, Schloss Esterhazy in Eisenstadt und Stadttheater Baden.
Konzertreisen führten den Chor nach Kanada, Brasilien, Argentinien und Irland sowie zum großen lettischen Sängerfest nach Riga. Die Singgemeinschaft gastierte auch bei renommierten Festivals wie „Voices of spirit“ (Graz), „Musikwochen Millstatt“ und „St. Pauler Kultursommer“.
Im Jahr 2014 erreichte der Chor beim Wettbewerb „Österreich singt – Europe sings“ in Salzburg den dritten Platz und wurde mit der „Bronzenen Stimmgabel“ ausgezeichnet.
In diesem Jahr erlangte er auch den Titel „Kärntner Chor des Jahres 2014“.
Ein wichtiges Anliegen der Singgemeinschaft Oisternig ist es, in der Jugend die Begeisterung für das chorische Singen zu wecken. So wurde unter ihrer Patenschaft 2010 der Jugendchor „Young Oisternig“ gegründet, welcher von Christina Zwitter und Eva Mörtl geleitet wird.
Projekte mit namhaften Künstlern wie Bernarda Fink und Ursula Langmayr bereichern die Chorarbeit. Eine intensive musikalische Freundschaft pflegt die Singgemeinschaft Oisternig mit den international bekannten Jazzmusikern Tonč Feinig, Stefan Thaler und Thomas Käfel.

„Povezani z domačimi pesmimi in odprti za vse novo!“ To so vodila zborovskega društva Ojsternik, ki izvira iz najbolj južnega predela Koroške, iz Bistrice na Zilji. Poimenovano je po Ojsterniku, 2052 m visoki domači gori iz Karnijskih Alp in leži na stičišču treh držav Avstrije, Italije in Slovenije. Zbor je bil ustanovljen leta 1949. Glasbeno vodstvo je v rokah zborovodje Christofa Mörtla, ki je prevzel zborovsko društvo leta 2009 od svojega očeta Franca Mörtla.
Velik pomen v zborovskem delovanju imata nega in ohranjevanje starih ljudskih pesmi in pesmi ob šegah, ki so nam izročene v nemškem in slovenskem jeziku. To kulturno dobrino smo si raznoliko ogledali na različnih simpozijih in je bila tudi zabeležena. Poleg posvetne in duhovne literature je mogoče najti v zborovskem repertoarju spirituale, gosple in popularno glasbo. Izvedbe duhovnih zborovskih in orkestralnih del »Maše v d-duru« Antonina Dvořaka in »Missa Cellensis« (Maša iz Mariazella) Josepha Haydna – med drugim v baziliki Santa Maria Maggiore v Rimu – so bila edinstvena doživetja. Med posebne vrhunce sodijo koncerti na gradu Bekštanj, v beljaškem Congress Centru, v mestnem gledališču in koncertni hiši v Celovcu, na gradu Esterhazyju v Eisenstadtu in mestnem gledališču v Badnu. Koncertna potovanja so vodila zbor v Kanado, Brazilijo, Argentino in na Irsko, kakor tudi na veliko latvijsko pevsko praznovanje v Rigo. Zborovsko društvo je gostovalo tudi pri slovitih festivalih kakor »Voices of spirit« v Gradcu, »Glasbenih tednih« v Millstattu in pri »Kulturnem poletju« v Št. Pavlu.
Leta 2014 je dosegel zbor pri natečaju »Avstrija poje – Europe sings« v Salzburgu tretje mesto in je bil odlikovan z »bronastimi glasbenimi vilicami«. V tem letu je prejel tudi naslov »Koroški zbor leta 2014«.
Pomembna želja zborovskega društva Ojsternik je, da vzbudi navdušenje za zborovsko petje pri mladini. Tako je bil leta 2010 pod njegovim botrstvom ustanovljen mladinski zbor »Young Oisternig«, ki ga vodita Christina Zwitter in Eva Mörtl.
Projekti s slavnimi umetniki kakor z Bernardo Fink in Ursulo Langmayr bogatijo zborovsko delovanje. Intenzivno glasbeno prijateljstvo goji zborovsko društvo Ojsternik z mednarodno znanimi džezovskimi glasbeniki, s Tončem Feinigom, Stefanom Thalerjem in Thomasom Käfelom.

“Remaining true to a long-established song repertoire yet always open to new challenges” - such are the guiding principles of the Singgemeinschaft (SG) Oisternig, a choir originating from the village of Feistritz in the Gail Valley in the southernmost region of Carinthia. The choir is named after a nearby mountain in the Carnian Alps, the Oisternig (2052m), which lies at the intersection of three countries, Austria, Slovenia and Italy. Founded in 1949, the choir is directed and conducted by Christof Mörtl who took over the position of choirmaster from his father, Prof. Franz Mörtl, in 2009.
The choir’s highest priority is the maintenance and the preservation of traditional folk songs that have been handed down over generations both in the German and in the Slovenian languages. This cultural heritage has already undergone intensive review and documentation in the course of various symposia. The repertoire of the SG Oisternig includes not only secular and sacred music but also spirituals, gospel songs and even pop music. Outstanding performances of sacred choral and orchestral works have included the “Mass in D Major” by Antonin Dvořák and the “Missa Cellensis” (Mariazell Mass) by Joseph Haydn which was also performed in the Basilika Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. Further highlights were concerts in the Burgarena Finkenstein, the Congress Center Villach, the Stadttheater and Konzerthaus Klagenfurt, in Schloss Esterhazy in Eisenstadt and in the Stadttheater Baden.
Concert tours were undertaken to Canada, Brasil, Argentina and Ireland as well as to the great singing festival in Riga, Latvia. Guest performances took place at renowned music festivals such as “Voices of Spirit” in Graz, “Musikwochen Millstatt” and “St. Pauler Kultursommer”.
In the year 2014, the choir gained third place in the song contest “Austria sings –Europe sings” in Salzburg and was awarded the “Bronze Tuning Fork”. In this same year, they won the title of “Carinthian Choir of the Year 2014”.
The SG Oisternig strives continually to awaken enthusiasm for choral singing amongst the young and in 2010 they sponsored the youth choir “Young Oisternig” which is directed and conducted by Christina Zwitter and Eva Mörtl.
A further enrichment in the choir’s work are projects together with well known performers such as Bernarda Fink and Ursula Langmayr. Furthermore, the choir nurtures a very close musical friendship with the internationally known jazz musicians Tonč Feinig, Stefan Thaler and Thomas Käfel.
